Samm's First Engagement Session

Many of you know that my momm, Samm, has been photographing children and families for a while now... and doing an awesome job I might say! This week, however, she did her first engagement session... mine!!! I still say that I think I prefer to be behind the camera, but it was still fun.

Even though Samm hasn't been formally trained in the whole couple portrait thing yet... she does have a great artistic eye. She'll be doing more training before being able to do an engagement session completely on her own, and learning more of the posing etc. There were some really great ones of Bobby and I though, so I thought I'd brag her up a bit and post a few of my favorites!

This next one is probably my current favorite... definitely going to be a huge wall portrait in our future home!

Pamper Me Cakes

Sweet Baby Cakes is a new business recently started by my cousin's wife, Amy. Amy has a 3 year old little boy, and an almost 1 year old little girl.

She is making Pamper Me Cakes. I love this idea for Birthdays, Mom's to Be, and Brides!

Tyler and Julia Abernathy

Last weekend, I photographed the renewal of vows ceremony for Tyler and Julia Abernathy. Tyler and Julia have a very unique story that makes me tear up every time I think about it... seriously, it's even hard for me to type out this blog.  This may get long, but I think it's definitely worth sharing.

I've known Tyler and Julia for a long time, but not closely. Tyler was one year younger than me in high school, and I think we had a keyboarding class together. Other than that, he's a Vikings fan and of course, that's important. Julia is the younger sister of a guy that I went to grade school and high school with. Their dad was my basketball coach and the two of them would always play basketball in the gym while they were waiting for their dad to finish up practice. I remember thinking then how impressed I was with their brother/sister relationship.


Tyler and Julia had their dream wedding planned for last summer. Just a couple of months before their wedding, Julia was diagnosed with cancer. I'm not sure of the specific kind, only that it's not a very common one. Her doctor recommended that since she would be in full chemo treatment at the time of her wedding, that it might be too much stress for her. So, they were married in a small family ceremony one week after their original wedding date.

On June 28th this year, just 1 day short of their official 1 year anniversary, Tyler and Julia got their dream wedding. We took most of the pictures in Julia's parents backyard and they couldn't have had a more perfect set-up!

I'm so happy that Tyler and Julia finally got the wedding of their dreams. They are truly a couple who deserves it!! Congratulations!!! and Happy Anniversary!!!

Randy and Jenna Schario

I photographed Randy and Jenna in Fruitland MO in a teeny tiny little church. Their day was warm but pleasant enough. This couple's love for each other was sooooo extremely apparent to anyone watching them. Randy surprised Jenna by singing a song, that he'd written for her, during the ceremony. It was so sweet!

Ryan and Sarah Gerling

Last weekend, I got the opportunity, more like thrill, to shoot the wedding for Ryan and Sarah (Tiehes) Gerling. This wedding was extra special for me as Sarah and I have a bit of a history together. When we were at Freshman Orientation, for high school, Sarah and I were in the group for the T's. She was from a small grade school as was I, and neither of us new a single other person in our orientation group. We eventually mustered up enough courage to start talking to each other and talked about a few classes. While we didn't hang out in the same group at the beginning of high school, we always offered each other a friendly smile in the halls. By the end of our senior year, groups of friends had changed and merged and Sarah and I were great friends and in Drama together. We sat next to each other at graduation and couldn't help remembering that we had started our high school career together and were then ending it together.

So, making that short story long... It was so great to be a part of this next chapter in her life!

Oh, and did I mention she's a total clown!

She got married to Ryan on June 14th! He's a great guy and loves Sarah sooo much, and the feeling is obviously mutual!

Josh and Christa Crain

This couple was sooo great to photograph! I really had a great time with them and wanted to share a few favorites of mine!
The father of the bride had these guns custom made for her and 4 of her brothers. They were really really cool.
Oh yeah, and FYI this was all in the Christa's parents yard!

Ryan, Jamie and Addison Brown

It's so much fun to be able to work with people over and over again! I first met Ryan and Jamie at their engagement session:

Then I photographed their wedding, they were such a great couple to work with and totally game to try anything to get good pics!

A few months after their wedding they found out that they were expecting their first baby!!!  When Jamie was about 7 months along, she came in for maternity portraits! She was so relaxed and super fun to work with!  A few months after that... Ryan and Jamie welcomed little Addison! They brought her in for her first photo session when she was just 3 days old! Can't wait to see how much she'd changed!

Wedding Album

Just finished an album that I loved and thought I'd post a few pics! This wedding was done in St. Louis, for Jake and Kelsie Davies! It rained most of the day, but was still so much fun!
